London – South East

Welcome to my “London – South East” pub section.  I have personally been to these pubs to review them, so this is not a copy and paste review. These reviews are in order of where I frequent the most. So if you see me here, say hi!

The Railway – Blackheath

Located right next to Blackheath train station this is my go to pub in the area. Having been brought up between Lewisham and Blackheath I have many found memories of visiting The Railway in the past.  It’s gone through a number of owners since then, but is now operated by the huge food & drink company Mitchells & Butlers. The pub has a long bar, live music, DJ sets, special offers, food is good, late closing times and an upstairs sun terrace.  Scoring 4.7 for the last 10 Tripadvisor reviews (as of 19th April 2024) this shows that it’s a top venue and the staff are always welcoming and willing to chat which is obviously good for business.

The Kings Arms – Bexleyheath

In the central area of the shopping center lies The Kings Arms.  This is sort of a local of mine as I only live 30 mins walk from it and the alternatives are no where near as nice.  Friendly staff, great food, competitive prices and great music are the norm here.  The new management have transformed this place from an old mans boozer to a quality establishment, which has won numerous awards, most recently the Highstreet award for best business in 2024.  Entertainment is high on the agenda with a live music, a pub quiz, rugby on the TVs, a Sunday cinema club, DJs and a large heated roof terrace. No wonder it won the “Best for Entertainment” award at the Great British Pub Awards in 2023.  Tripadvisor only scores a 3.7* for the last 10 reviews (as of 19th April 2024), but there are two low scores from idiots, so I would take that with a very large pinch of salt as most of the others are 5 or 4 stars, and you don’t win awards for only being 3.7* do you?
